MOGADISCIO (Reuters) – Twenty-two people at least were killed in Somalia on Friday by suicide bombers who drove two car bombs against a hotel in Mogadishu, officials said.

The attack on the Sahafi hotel was claimed by radical Islamic group Al Shabaab.

In addition to the two suicide bombers, four assailants attempting to enter the hotel were shot dead by police and prison guards, the police said.

Triggered remotely aboard a “tuk-tuk”, a taxi with three wheels, a third bomb exploded about twenty minutes after the first attack.

The Islamists said they chose this target because the hotel regularly houses government officials and security forces.
