The US ambassador to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Thursday criticized Iran for not having declared all its capabilities in this area.

The US ambassador to the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) Thursday accused Iran of not having declared all its capabilities in this area.

“The United States has long feared that Iran will pursue a chemical weapons program that it has not declared to the OPCW,” Kenneth Ward told a conference at the agency’s headquarters.

“The United States is also concerned that Iran is also using chemicals that have an effect on the central nervous system for military purposes,” he said.

The diplomat has accused Tehran of not having reported the existence of a production site, nor the transfer to Libya in the 1980s of chemical weapons that Tripoli has however declared to the OPCW in 2011.
