WASHINGTON (Reuters) – Donald Trump lost a new senior administration official on Friday with the surprise resignation of Jeff Pon, director of the Office of Personnel Management (OPM), an agency that oversees the federal government’s public service.
Jeff Pon, confirmed at the head of the OPM in March, is the latest in a long list of top officials who have left the US administration since Donald Trump took office in January 2017.
The White House did not provide details on the reason for the resignation and Jeff Pon could not be contacted.
Donald Trump has appointed Margaret Weichert to act as interim head of the OPM, the White House announced. Weichert will at the same time maintain the position of Deputy Director of the Office of Management and Budget (OMB).
