Decidedly, President Donald Trump seems to have provoked via Twitter one of his specialties. This Sunday, the US head of state has attacked several elected Democrats suggesting they “return to the places broken and infested with crimes from which they came”. The British Prime Minister Theresa May condemned them as “totally unacceptable”.
If Donald Trump does not name them directly, it’s easy to guess who the main people are. Among them, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, originally from Puerto Rico and recently elected New York MLA and Ilhan Omar, elected in Minnesota. The latter has also responded to the President, accusing him of stirring up white nationalism.
Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, considered the words of the US President “xenophobic”. This incident will still have managed to unite the Democrats, for now … After a series of increasingly public quarrels, between the party leadership and its most progressive wing, it seems that tensions have dissipated after Donald Trump’s recent attacks.
This is not the first time that the tenant of the White House attacks his political opponents with tweets. He had already criticized Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez and Ilhan Omar, saying that he did not even know where they came from, yet the two women are indeed American citizens.
