Trump claims the “absolute right” to declare a state of emergency

Donald Trump said Wednesday have the “absolute right” to declare a state of emergency, failing agreement with the Congress on the financing of the wall he requires construction on the Mexican border.

The US president, who was speaking before a meeting with the presidents of the parliamentary groups, said he did not do so the day before, during his televised speech, because he is convinced that a compromise is still possible, but assured that he could act in “a different way”, if Republicans and Democrats fail to agree.

The disagreement over the financing of the border wall has paralyzed about a quarter of the federal administration since December 22.
