Donald Trump supports a South Korea plan to provide food aid to North Korea, South Korean Yonhap reported on Tuesday.
US President and South Korean leader Moon Jae-in spoke for 35 minutes on the phone Tuesday to explore ways to continue dialogue with Pyongyang, more than two months after the failed Trump-Kim summit in Hanoi Yonhap said.
The White House has not commented immediately.
Last month, when asked if he was ready to relax sanctions on North Korea, Donald Trump said he was discussing with Moon “some humanitarian issues.”
Nearly half of the North Koreans suffer from severe food insecurity and things are likely to get worse as harvests look very bad this year, the UN said Friday.
