The Democratic representatives will table this week a text proposing to finance the Department of Homeland Security until 8 February and to allocate 1.3 billion dollars (1.14 billion euros) for border security, a- we learned from a parliamentary assistant of the Democratic Party.
The House will also propose to fund the other administrations for the entire exercise, according to the same source.
These funds must allow the reopening of partially closed government services (shutdown).
The “shutdown” was caused by the request of Donald Trump, opposed by the Democrats but also some Republicans, to obtain from Congress the release of five billion dollars (4.4 billion euros) for construction an anti-immigration wall on the US-Mexico border. Its total cost is estimated at 23 billion dollars (20 billion euros).
